By joining a brokerage they will provide you most of the resources needed to conduct business such as a physical office, staff and resources plus training to teach you the fundamentals of real world real estate. These fees collectively can range between $400- $750 give or take. The next step for a real estate start up is to affiliate with a real estate brokerage, which will have been identified in your application to the state. Upon successful completion of these requirements applicants must submit an application to the Director of the Real Estate division Department Of Business Regulation accompanied with a BCI background check from the Attorney Generals office as well as all applicable licensing fees and proof of errors and omissions insurance. Upon completing the 45 hour pre license education classes applicants must pass 2 separate exams, one proving competency in all matters regarding real estate and second, the law exam proving knowledge of Rhode Island real estate law, the testing fee is $70 for both exams. The typical pre license class tuition fee ranges on average from $250-$400.
